From the right atrium the blood will flow through a one-way valve into
the right ventricle. That valve has two names. The first
is the Right Atrioventricular Valve because it is found on the right
side of the heart between the atrium and the ventricle. The second
name for this valve is the Tricuspid Valve because it has three
cusps. There are two other valves in the heart that have three cusps.
However, this is the only one known as the Tricuspid valve. Also,
do not intend to count the cusps to identify the Tricuspid. Many of the
models and charts are misleading regarding the number of cusps. You
should know it as the Tricuspid Valve because it is found between the right
atrium and ventricle.
